1/3/20 Audition Workshop

Hey Everybody-

Happy New Year!  Welcome to the Roarin’ 20’s.

We will not be part of the audition workshop tomorrow, Friday January 3rd.  We will cover most everything you all need to take from that workshop in class, so having an additional day with me in front of you seems a little gratuitous.  You are all welcome to come in and practice during the day, although space will be at a premium.  More updates coming this weekend for 1/6/20 – 1/11/20.

Music Rehearsal #2 for 2019 in the Books

Hey Everybody-

Just a note to let you all know that first off, the blog errors are now fixed!  (Thanks edublogs!)

Also, for anyone that has been gone this week, the drumline started working in sub-sections on My Friend’s Normal today, so be sure to refresh your memory on that if you are out of town right now.  Here is the link to the music: My Friend’s Normal.  We’ll have fresh copies for you without the watermark when you get back!

Battery and Pit have gotten a lot of good work done on fundamentals, exercises, and strength building.  We’re looking good, and getting setup for the year!  Getting better everyday.  Here is the video we talked about today:

Summer Schedule and Information for New Members

For all new (and old) members of the Wando Percussion Section, welcome to the start of a new season and school year, even though we’re not quite done with the last one yet.  We have a lot to accomplish this coming year, and it all starts with some good preparation.  To start, we have several summer rehearsals to plan for:

  • June 17th, 18th, & 19th
    • 8:00-12:00 – Rookies & Full Drumline
    • 1:00-5:00 – All
  • July 8th, 9th, & 10th
    • 8:00-12:00 – All
    • 1:00-5:00 – All
  • July 22nd, 23rd, & 24th
    • 8:00-12:00 – All
    • 1:00-5:00 – All
  • Band Camp – August 5th – 9th (Full schedule TBA)
  • Band Camp Week 2 – August 12th – 15th (Full schedule TBA)

Please email me regarding ANY conflicts you have with the summer schedule, whether you are going to Germany, have a birthday party to attend, or if you are sick.  It is very important to come to every rehearsal ready to learn, ready for the heat, and ready for some physical exertion.  Wear lots of sunscreen, and bring water in something like this:

Image result for igloo water jug

Lastly, do a lot of preparation on the exercises, and any music that is posted here before that date.  We will go over all the music and exercises as a group, but will be as good as the preparation you all put in beforehand.  Just as a guide, try and have the following exercises down in this order:

  1. 87695
  2. Rap Battle
  3. Wandouble Triple
  4. Triplet Roll (Basses on snare part at first)
  5. Roll Exercise #5
  6. MO
  7. Paradiddles
  8. Sanford Shuffle

All exercises can be found here

Learn music as it gets posted, and we’ll be good to go.  Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions by emailing me Handel@Wandobands.org

Looking forward to the year!
