Summer Drum Set Opportunities

Jazz Band Afficionados, Garageband Wanna-Be’s, Local Rock n Roll Stars-

There are a few awesome opportunities to take advantage of this summer, all through Charleston Jazz.  First, there is a workshop with Terri Lyne Carrington May 29th, and then a Drum Workshop on June 10th with Brandon Brooks and JT Rollerson.

In collaboration with Spoleto Festival USA, we are excited to host Wells Fargo Jazz Series performing artist Terri Lyne Carrington at the Charleston Jazz Academy on May 29, 2019 from 6pm – 7:15pm. At the age of seven, Carrington was given a set of drums that had belonged to her grandfather, and at the age of 11, she received a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music. Throughout her extensive touring and recording career, she has worked with luminary artists such as Herbie Hancock, Stan Getz, Dianne Reeves, and many more! Don’t miss this chance to learn from the first female artist to win a Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album in this free workshop.

FREE WORKSHOP – Reserve your seat early!  Click here to Register!
For all ages and experience levels.

Find your inspiration by working alongside other drummers to reach new milestones in this encouraging environment.  Students will work with professional drummers, Brandon Brooks and JT Rollerson, to learn the proper techniques, develop various grooves and styles, build confidence, and grow as musicians.

Sign up now! Limited spots available.

Sign up Here!

Brandon and JT are GREAT drummers!  I thought about signing up, but I am in 27th grade.  Please consider doing one or both of these events, and let me know if there is a financial reason that you are not doing that.  We have things in place that can take care of that!
Let me know if you have any questions, and remember that you need to register, even for the free events!

It was another great weekend at CSU.  Bands played well, the Wando Percussionists represented you all very nicely, and hopefully those of you involved had some fun in the meantime.  I was sporting a 101+ fever all weekend, blew out my driver’s side wheel bearing, and still made it to 2 rehearsals, 2 shows, loaded a truck, and helped to change out the majority of the wheel assembly on the truck.  I’ll likely have grease under my nails for the next month or so…

Anyways, here’s the plan for the week:
